Edward – A Burnout U-turn
Positive outcomes
Enhanced job satisfaction, work-life balance, and energy after being on the verge of burning out in a super stressful old role.
The challenge
A company reorganization significantly impacted Edward. His performance declined, and his manager put pressure on him, leading to high levels of stress in both his work and personal life. He was on the verge of burnout and breakdown when he came to me.
The coaching plan
Early sessions were “clear the air” chats where I gave him time and space to reflect and clarify what really mattered to him. Honesty and transparency were critical to the process, and we built a career development plan centered on his strengths and values. I supported by translating his insights into concrete actions and offering new ways to manage stress.
Key lessons
With a structured development plan and action steps, Edward regained his mojo and pursued opportunities that better matched his strengths and interests. Within a few months, he moved to a new and more rewarding job that offers a better work-life balance.
Tristan – From Team Mutiny to Team Unity
Positive outcomes
Establishing team buy-in and engagement after a near mutiny situation with an initially hostile, unmotivated, and resistant team.
The challenge
In leading an overseas team for the first time, Tristan faced culture clashes in key areas: communication, work ethic, feedback, and conflict management. This tension was expressed in poor employee survey results and declines in work quality, communication, and responsibility. In short, a mutiny situation was very likely.
The coaching plan
Taking things one step at a time, we started by re-balancing mutual and legitimate expectations, before creating regular feedback loops and check-ins to restore accountability. These actions helped to rebuild trust and a healthier team environment.
Key lessons
Tristan’s openness to adapt to a new cultural landscape and implementing feedback tools to create trust and dampen potential conflict hotspots worked very well. Team relationships and productivity improved, colleagues are motivated, and the employee survey (a year on) delivered a 100 percent uptick in engagement and loyalty.
Rishi – Reset, Refocus, and Revitalization
Positive outcomes
Greater clarity and a confident new way forward, breaking free from years of pressure and the weight of family expectations.
The challenge
Working overseas, Rishi faced a range of challenges around identity, orientation, and relationships. Family pressure to get married was another issue, and these issues combined made him stressed, overwhelmed, and isolated. They also affected his health, well-being, sleep, and relationship with his partner. Everything came to a head in a brutal confrontation with his family—after this, he sought coaching.
The coaching plan
I gave Rishi space to pause, reflect, and rebuild. By “stripping back” his life, we systematically addressed the respective challenges. We dug deep to understand his values, painted a picture of his ideal future, and laid out practical steps to get there.
Key lessons
Gaining clarity and honesty were essential in this case to separate his priorities from others’ expectations. And it was mainly self-driven; I only added my thoughts and ideas at certain times. A key breakthrough for Rishi was realizing he had a choice: return home and confront his family, or remain overseas to live life on his own terms.
Eugene – From Wrong Fit to Right Fit
Positive outcomes
Rediscovered strengths and a new role and career—in a completely different industry.
The challenge
After a company reorganization, Eugene was in a high-profile role leading a large team. He didn’t like the change and struggled to perform. Things worsened—he discouraged his team from following new directives and avoided taking on leadership responsibilities. As a result, his senior management warned that if he didn’t change, he would be asked to leave. The final warning was his trigger to get coaching.
The coaching plan
Eugene was initially resistant to take any action. But together we unpacked his situation and explored three possible outcomes: continue and risk termination; try to adapt and progress; or find a new path aligned with his strengths and interests. He opened up to the opportunities in option three, and we proceeded to clarify what he truly wanted in life.
Key lessons
Recognizing why the fit was bad and then taking ownership of his career was the action plan adopted. With a clear direction, Eugene left the company on good terms to follow his passion, and successfully launched a travel company), which still thrives today.
Stanley – On the Road to Independence, Better Health, and Stability
Positive outcomes
Finding independence, stability, and better health after confronting years of diverse personal challenges.
The challenge
Stanley’s family held him in very low esteem, verbally abused him often, while also demanding financial and home support. Due to ageing family members with chronic hoarding habits and unhygienic lifestyles, the house was dirty and unkept. All this negatively impacted his mental and physical health, finances, work, and relationships.
The coaching plan
Stanley was at a breaking point when we met. A life “stock take” was the critical first step, looking at health, family, finances, career, home life, and relationships. Stanley started keeping a journal and apply decompression techniques to deal with his stresses. Together we created a realistic plan with clear priorities, small steps and daily or weekly wins. A self-motivation and accountability system kept him going in tough times.
Key lessons
Learning to pause, reflect, manage stress, and celebrate small victories allowed Stanley to recalibrate and build momentum towards a healthier mind and body. Within a year, he implemented a new health regime, found a new job, and moved to a place of his own. Free from the pressures back home, his outlook is bright.
Anna – From Merger Inertia to a Brighter, New Career Path
Positive outcomes
A boost in energy and self-esteem; a revitalised skillset and career.
The challenge
After her company was merged into a larger organization, Anna was fortunate to have kept her role. But the expectations on her grew significantly, and she struggled to meet them. She did not receive the proper support, began to feel incompetent and even obsolete, and her confidence took a hit. This led to fatigue, sick days and clashes with colleagues, and impacted her relationships at home.
The coaching plan
Over nine sessions, I helped Anna take a step back, unpack, and take control over specific challenges in her key areas: work, health, finances, and family. Together, we prioritized goals, small wins, and manageable steps to achieve them. Slowly but surely, this allowed her to reenergize, regain confidence, and start working towards the future of her choice.
Key lessons
Breaking things into steps, making small changes one by one helped Anna get back on track. She undertook training to upskill and align with her new environment. With newfound confidence, she transitioned to a new role where she is still doing well today.
